You would think that the GOP has enough to worry about…like the fact that their party’s presidential nominee is a narcissistic lunatic. But no, they have to invent controversy around President Obama.
Obama is on vacation on Martha’s Vineyard with his family, like they have almost every year since he was elected president eight years ago. The only year the First Family didn’t summer on Martha’s Vineyard was in 2012.
But god forbid conservatives let the president have a few weeks of relaxation. Now they are up in arms over the number of times he has golfed while on vacation. Apparently he has golfed 5 times in 6 days, and that is simply unacceptable for members of the GOP. Conservatives love to accuse Obama of goofing off and golfing whenever he can.
And even though Obama is on “vacation” he really isn’t on vacation.
In the nuclear age, presidents may have only minutes to make a decision that could affect the entire world. They don’t so much leave the White House as they take a miniature version of it with them wherever they go. Some 200 people accompany a president on vacation — including White House aides, Secret Service agents, military advisers, and experts in communications and transportation — to ensure that, while on vacation, the president can do nearly everything he could accomplish in Washington.
Now, let’s take a look at how many days Obama has spent on vacation, compared to other presidents.
Obama has taken a total of 204 days of vacation during his time as president.
George W. Bush took a total of 879 days of vacation during his 2 terms.
Bill Clinton took 174 days of vacation during his 2 terms.
Ronald Reagan took 390 days of vacation during his 2 terms.
Jimmy Carter took just 79 days of vacation.
Do you see a pattern here?
