The New Yorker has a new article about Melania Trump, and we learn a great deal about the former “supermodel” and Trump’s wife, mostly that she would be a terrible First Lady. We also learn that she has stretched the truth a bit with regards to her past.
If Melania became First Lady, she’d be the first foreign-born first lady since Louisa Adams. And while she speaks Slovenian with her son, Barron, that’s about as close as she gets to her foreign country, who she has no love for. Donald Trump has visited Slovenia just once, in 2002, for a total of 3 hours in order to meet Melania’s parents.
The New Yorker mainly says that Melania would be an ineffective FLOTUS, saying, “If the President has got a smart, plugged-in partner who can get his attention and tell him what’s going on in the land, and when he’s being an idiot, as the best ones have been able to do, that is in our interest. Everybody else serves at his pleasure. A passive First Spouse, Marton said, can hurt not only her husband but the nation. Melania Trump, she added, would be “the least experienced and the least prepared First Lady in history.”
Melania often tells people that her mother was a “fashion designer”, when in fact, she was a factory worker at a textile mill. Melania has claimed to have won first place in the Look of the Year contest, when he hasn’t. Her website states that she obtained a degree in architecture and design from the University of Ljubljana when in fact she dropped out in her first year.
She also has no problem grabbing on to her husband’s beliefs, such as the “birther” movement in 2011. Melania said, “They need to have, and, in one way, it would be very easy if President Obama just show it. It’s not only Donald who wants to see it. It’s American people, who voted for him, and who didn’t voted for him, they want to see that!”
It’s an interesting, if not scary read. You can read the article here.
