Friday night at a fundraiser, Hillary Clinton told donors that half of Donald Trump’s supporters fall into “the basket of deplorables,” meaning people who are racist, sexist, homophobic or xenophobic.
Well, Hillary has faced some serious backlash for that statement, from the right and left as well.
Trump had the following to say about her statement:
While Hillary said horrible things about my supporters, and while many of her supporters will never vote for me, I still respect them all!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) September 10, 2016
#BasketOfDeplorables is even trending on Twitter, which isn’t a good sign.
So Clinton has issued a statement saying she was “grossly generalistic” and that she regretted saying that “half” of Trump’s supporters was deplorable.
Here is the full statement:
"I won't stop calling out bigotry and racist rhetoric in this campaign." —Hillary pic.twitter.com/C3Z7GybJ53

Issuing the statement was probably the right thing to do…but what she said, I still believe is true.
What do you think?
