WikiLeaks has released more emails, and this batch could be damaging for Hillary Clinton.
It appears that officials from the small Persian Gulf nation of Qatar requested to meet Bill Clinton in order to present him with a $1 million dollar check for the Clinton Foundation, in honor of his birthday.
The emails from Ami Desai, director of foreign policy for the Clinton Foundation, said, “[Qatar] Would like to see WJC “for five minutes” in NYC, to present $1 million check that Qatar promised for WJC’s birthday in 2011.” (WJC is Bill Clintons full initials).
The email was sent in 2012, and was addressed to top aide at the Clinton Foundation. The emails also said that Qatar was spending $20 million in Haiti, and that it would welcome “suggestions for investments” in the country from the Clinton Foundation.
The emails do not prove Qatar ever gave the promised $1 million, although the foundation’s website lists the State of Qatar as having given a minimum of $1 million, but lists no dates. A spokesman for the foundation declined to confirm the donation.
All of this plays into Trump’s rhetoric about Hillary’s apparent “pay-to-play” scandal, which is obviously a far reach for Trump, who is looking for anything at this point to bring Trump down.
