Donald Trump was frequently mentioned in a speech given by First Lady Michelle Obama in Phoenix, Arizona, on Thursday. So what does Donald Trump do when he feels attacked? He attacks back.
Trump lashed back at the First Lady during a rally in Fletcher, North Carolina, saying, “We have a bunch of babies running our country, a bunch of losers. They are babies. We have a president, all he wants to do is campaign. His wife, all she wants to do is campaign.”
Trump then used a quote from Michelle Obama, which she said in 2007 when her husband was running for president against Hillary Clinton for the Democratic presidential nomination.
Trump said, “I see how much his wife likes Hillary, but wasn’t she the one that started the statement: ‘If you can’t take care of your home, you can’t take care of the White House or the country.’”
Trump is correct in that Michelle Obama said that quote, but Trump left out the full context of Michelle Obama’s remarks — which were not an attack on Clinton, but a reference to how she sought to balance her family life with the rigors of a campaign for president.
The exact quote was, “Our view was that, if you can’t run your own house, you certainly can’t run the White House. So, so we’ve adjusted our schedules to make sure that our girls are first, so while he’s traveling around, I do day trips.”
Didn’t the White House warn Trump against doing this EXACT thing?
