This will probably not come as a surprise, but Donald Trump had absolutely no interest in raising his children, and didn’t take an interest in them until they graduated from college and could work for his business.
Ivana Trump told guests at the Lifeline benefit at Le Cirque that, “I brought up the children singlehandedly.”
The topic came up when partygoers complimented the first of three Mrs. Trumps on how poised her kids — Ivanka, Eric and Donald Jr. — have appeared while supporting their father’s presidential campaign.
Ivana said, “Donald wasn’t really interested in the children until he could talk business with them. When they turned 21, I handed them over to him and said ‘Here’s the finished product, you can take them from here.’ ”
Ivana has previously complained about Trump’s absence in helping her raise their children. In an interview with the New York Post earlier this year, she said:
“Donald wasn’t really interested in the children until he could talk business with them. Once the children were the age of 21 and out of the university, I said, ‘Donald, this is the final product, now you deal with it.’”
