The American people are best suited when their president surrounds themselves with the best and brightest of minds. President Donald Trump, on the other hand, has done the complete opposite by surrounding himself with criminals, extremists, predators, and perverts.
Former Trump campaign chair and Oklahoma state Sen. Ralph Shortey, 35, has some serious explaining to do after police confronted him in his Super 8 motel room in Moore, Oklahoma on March 9, 2017. An anonymous tip was placed to the Moore Police Department after Shortey checked into the room shortly after 12:30 a.m. which prompted the police’s action.
When they arrived at Shortey’s room they found a teenage boy, whose name and age has not yet been released. Shortey has thus far offered no explanation what he was doing in the motel room, or why the boy was there. The boy and Shortey were not related in any manner so their encounter seems to be anything but innocent.
While the tip to police was anonymous, a relative of the boy contacted the police previously to express their concerns regarding Shortey’s relationship with the boy. How long Shortey and the boy have been in contact with one another is not known. However, Moore police did confirm they have received a log of text messages between Shortey and his underage motel room companion and that they are reviewing the past conversations.

Moore police Lt. Kyle Dudley issued a brief statement regarding the incident:
On March 9 officers of the Moore Police Department were contacted in reference to a welfare check at a local hotel. Responding officers found a juvenile male in a hotel room which was also occupied by an adult male. The circumstances surrounding this incident are currently under investigation and no additional information can be released at this time.
Shortey has been an Oklahoma state Senator since being elected in 2010. In 2015 he was named the chairman of Donald Trump’s Oklahoma campaign.
No charges have yet been filed against Shortey. The District Attorney of Cleveland County, Greg Mashburn, has confirmed he is aware of the incident and is waiting for the Moore Police Department’s investigation to conclude before deciding to persue criminal charges or not.
In the wake of this breaking scandal, the Oklahoma Democratic Party Chair Mark Hammons has called for Shortey to step down from his position until the investigation is concluded. In a statement Hammons, in part, said:
While a final resolution should await completion of the police investigation, Sen Ralph Shortey owes it to his constituents and all taxpayers to suspend himself from all official activities. This is far too embarrassing to have him speak, vote or represent Oklahoma on any issue
The nation will wait on pins and needles whilst holding their breath for the Moore Police Department to finish their investigation. However, for the moment, the scenario certainly does not appear as if Shortey was merely offering the teenage boy a private civics lesson on a Super 8 motel room bed after midnight.
