During his campaign, Donald Trump won over a large group of voters by vowing to solve the opioid epidemic that affects families across the United States. Donald took some time away from the fairways at his Bedminster, NJ golf course to discuss his solution to the opioid crisis.
The president promised to work with law enforcement to bring down the “drug dealers that poison our communities.” He made the statement publicly before holding a private meeting with advisers and officials regarding the matter.
According to the WH press pool, Trump stated:
“We’re being very, very strong on our southern border — and I would say the likes of which this country certainly has never seen that kind of strength.”
Then, Trump stated the obvious:
“The best way to prevent drug addiction and overdose is to prevent people from abusing drugs in the first place. If they don’t start, they won’t have a problem. If they do start, it’s awfully tough to get off.”
Trump wrapped up by promising that “We will win.” “We have no alternative. We have to win for our youth. We have to win for our young people — and, frankly, we have to win for a lot of other people, not necessarily young that are totally addicted and have serious, serious problems,” Trump concluded.
