There’s a reason Trump has failed to fill hundreds of federal government positions. It’s because he believes that a lot of federal agencies are “unnecessary.” In other words, he just admitted to running a bare-bones government and willfully sabotaging the federal government. The ironic part is that Trump vowed to boost the number of jobs in America, yet he is stripping qualified Americans of their right to work in the government.
In his recent interview with Forbes, Trump said, “I’m generally not going to make a lot of the appointments that would normally be — because you don’t need them.”
He added, “I mean, you look at some of these agencies, how massive they are, and it’s totally unnecessary. They have hundreds of thousands of people.”
When asked which agencies are “unnecessary,” Trump refused to answer. Knowing Trump, these “unnecessary” agencies are actually necessary for the welfare of American people. He’s known for hiring unqualified individuals who are loyal to him because he’s a paranoid narcissist.
Trump has proven that he cares more about short-term success than long-term. According to a database maintained by the Washington Post and the Partnership for Public Service, Trump only plans to fill 307 of the 600 key positions listed in the database.
