President Trump‘s adviser and son-in-law, Jared Kushner, came forth this Monday to offer his praise to the president for delivering on his campaign promise to move the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem.
“While presidents before him have backed down from their pledge to move the American Embassy once they were in office, this president delivered. Because when President Trump makes a promise, he keeps it,” Kushner declared during his speech at the facility.
“Israel proves every day the boundless power of freedom. This land is the only land in the Middle East in which Jews, Muslims, and Christians, and people of all faiths participate and worship freely according to their beliefs,” he added.
“Israel protects women’s rights, freedom of speech, and the right of every individual to reach their God-given potential.”
Kushner, who is currently tasked with spearheading the Trump administration’s efforts to bring about peace between Israelis and Palestinians, went on to discuss plans for brokering talks between the two factions.
“We believe, it is possible for both sides to gain more than they give – so that all people can live in peace – safe from danger, free from fear, and able to pursue their dreams,” Kushner said.
“Jerusalem must remain a city that brings people of all faiths together.”
37 people have reportedly been killed and 1,000 wounded after Palestinians stormed the border into Israel in efforts to protest the embassy opening, the outbreak of violent acts which cost the lives of children were the reason behind former presidents delaying the dangerous move.
Kushner immediately came under fire for his remarks:
As Jared Kushner & Ivanka Trump sip wine in Jerusalem, Israeli troops kill 37 Palestinians & injure scores. 1000s are demonstrating because they can’t bear to see the city they regard as their capital slip away. By @LovedayM & @iHaZeMi https://t.co/sNCxNNDfxp

Jared Kushner at Jerusalem embassy: "The pursuit of peace is the noblest pursuit of humankind. I believe peace is within reach if we dare to believe that the future can be different from the past, that we are not condemned to relive history…”
