Major news that’s slipped under the radar for the most part as other Trump atrocities prevail is the separation of child immigrants from their parents at the Mexican border. A Democratic Senator traveled to Texas over the weekend to see the children firsthand, and officials barred him from entering.
The United Nations is one of the countless groups that is appalled by the inhumane new Sessions and Trump order. The president even had the gall to blame Democrats.
He wrote, “Separating families at the Border is the fault of bad legislation passed by the Democrats,” adding, “Border Security laws should be changed but the Dems can’t get their act together! Started the Wall.”

UN human rights spokeswoman Ravina Shamdasani stated that the Trump policy has “led to people caught entering the country irregularly being subjected to criminal prosecution and having their children – including extremely young children – taken away from them as a result.”
Children as young as one-year-old have been separated from their parents.
Shamdasani continued, “The use of immigration detention and family separation as a deterrent runs counter to human rights standards and principles.”
She later added, “It is therefore of great concern that in the US, migration control appears to have been prioritised over the effective care and protection of migrant children.”
Shamdasani called on the Trump administration to “adopt non-custodial alternatives that allow children to remain with their families.”
